Progress & Perils

Progress and Perils – The Survey
We know that the only way to document women’s views is by speaking to them directly. To that end, we completed Progress and Perils: A New Agenda for Women, a two-part landmark survey of over 3,300 American women that measures their opinions and experiences. The voices in the report paint a national picture of women’s reality in America, and are key to raising public awareness and mobilizing today’s women.

Key Findings:

  • 92% of women say reducing domestic & sexual assault should be a top priority

  • 50% say affirmative action programs should continue

  • 41% say keeping abortion legal should be a top priority

  • African-American (63%) and Latina (68%) women see the need for a women’s movement in higher proportions than non-minority (41%) women

Media Exposure:
Listen to President Faye Wattleton discuss the findings of Progress and Perils with “Forum” on KQED-San Francisco radio

Coming Up:
The Second edition of Progress & Perils will be released in 2008.  As we lead up to the national political debates, we will disseminate this information to ensure women’s priorities are addressed by all candidates.
