Women After 9/11 Survey
Shortly after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, we commissioned the first women-only poll on the impact of the terrorist attacks on women’s lives. We spoke to nearly 1,000 adult women nationwide and found that, while women were deeply worried about terrorism and national security after 9/11, they had not changed their lives radically as a result.

Key Findings:

  • Children’s safety led the list of daily worries for women.
  • Only 37% of women say that the attacks changed their lives.

  • 39% worried that they or a family member would be a victim of terrorism

  • Women’s concerns about terrorism are tempered by concern about their economic situation.
