CFAW’s capacity building programs for 2008, will move us to the forefront of research-based public advocacy for women:
Communications
Creating awareness, through information, is essential to building the commitment required for the long journey to reverse the impact of fundamentalist politics that have eroded women’s rights, especially reproductive rights.
CFAW is building a credible reputation for creating and packaging its research for broad-based media interest. The capacity to produce well crafted, creative advocacy campaigns, using several spokespersons, within short intervals will generate momentum to extend their impact to diverse audiences.
Research
Research is a powerful tool that enables us to tell women’s stories, not just of one or two select women, but the collective profiles of the values, opinions, and experiences of women’s lives in a broad-based, precise way. Research is the fuel necessary to advocate compellingly for women.
We commission all-women surveys and issue reports based on interpretive analysis of women’s attitudes and perspectives on a diverse range of topics including current events, the economy, personal safety, lifestyle choices, health-related issues and the workplace.

National Data Center on Women
CFAW’s national data center on women will be the first archive of its kind, devoted exclusively to gathering, organizing, linking to existing data, and making data about women accessible.
We envision it to become a rich repository of research documenting the history and facts of women’s lives, housing information critical to determining profiles of success, as well as detecting patterns of discrimination and identifying effective strategies for change. We will collect data that will be accessible to scholars, public policymakers as well as press and media organizations and that will be critical to our mission over time.
