What is the Center for the Advancement of Women?
The Center is an eleven-year old institution for research, education and advocacy on women’s issues. It is led by Faye Wattleton, former President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and a leader for women’s rights for over 30 years.

What are the goals of the Center for the Advancement of Women?
Our mission is to advance women, at all levels of society, through research based education and advocacy. The agenda of today’s women is quantified and the information is disseminated to the widest possible audience, through exposure to broad-based multi-media outlets.

How is the Center for the Advancement of Women’s research conducted?
CFAW retains expert researchers to conduct national opinion surveys; culminating from multi-city focus groups and in-depth interviews. Princeton Survey Research Associates has conducted most of CFAW’s research, including Progress and Perils.

The Center for the Advancement of Women was previously called the Center for Gender Equality. Why was the name changed?
The board of directors deliberated this issue. After we commissioned focus groups and engaged public discussion, the board decided to choose a name that more accurately reflects CFAW’s mission and work - to advance women.

How is the Center for the Advancement of Women funded?
CFAW is privately funded, to maintain our independence and to avoid restraining regulations. We do not seek, nor do we accept government funding. Grants from corporations and foundations and contributions from individual supporters, like you, are the backbone of our ability to carry out our unique mission.
