Court’s Abortion Ruling Undercuts Roe (Women’s eNews)

Women’s eNews interviews CFAW President Faye Wattleton about the recent Supreme Court ruling which upholds a Federal abortion ban. The Center for the Advancement of Women had issued a prior press statement declaring,

“...the Supreme Court, in Gonzalez v. Carhart, has turned its back on more than three decades of precedents that have protected the health of women. In Roe v. Wade the Supreme Court opened an era of 30 years of progress toward a safe medical procedure that is needed by more than 1 million American women every year.”

Wattleton closes the Women’s eNews article with this call to action,

“The reality is that women now must really dedicate themselves anew to become engaged in the political process,” Wattleton told Women’s eNews. “We no longer have the privilege of being on the sidelines.”
